The Stewards received a report from Turf Club Stable Yard Security that Malicious Intent, trained by V. Clifford had failed to arrive at the racecourse half an hour prior to the off time of this race. The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse and interviewed the trainer who stated that the box of the transport company he had engaged to take his horse to the races had broken down on its way to the track causing considerable delay and he had subsequently not arrived until close to the off time of the race. Having considered the evidence the Stewards found V. Clifford in breach of Rule 19 (ii) and having taken his record into account, cautioned the trainer regarding his responsibilities in this regard in future.

An extended handicap for four yrs old and upwards rated 45-65
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won.
Riders - Confined to riders who have not ridden more than 10 winners under any National Hunt Rules or Rules of Racing between 27th June, 2016 and 14th February, 2017.
