Permission was given for Chemical Warfare (IRE) to go early to post.
Jumping the final fence, Guillaume (IRE), placed third, jumped left-handed and on landing drifted slightly left-handed, crowding Fearless Action (IRE), placed fourth, for room and briefly causing that gelding’s rider to take a slight check, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Guillaume (IRE).
Following the race, Ross Chapman reported that he pulled up Chemical Warfare (IRE), which started favourite, after jumping the second-last fence as he felt the gelding may have lost its action having made several jumping errors; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Chemical Warfare (IRE) revealed the gelding had an overreach to its right-fore and was lame on its right-hind.
