Approaching the final furlong, MARIE’S DIAMOND (IRE), placed fourth, hung quickly right taking Brunch (GB), placed fifth, slightly off its intended line at the same time Bell Rock (GB), placed third, shifted slightly left, causing Mohaafeth (IRE), placed sixth, to be momentarily eased, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Mohaafeth (IRE), which started favourite and finished sixth, beaten by 8¼ lengths, was considered.
William Haggas' representative could offer no explanation other than the rider reported that the colt was slowly away, was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Mohaafeth (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The performance of Brunch (GB), which started second favourite and was placed fifth of six runners, was considered.
Michael Dods' explanation that the gelding may have been unsuited by the going on this occasion, which was officially described as good, good to firm in places and would prefer a slower surface, was noted.
