Review wexford 24th Aug
Aidan O'Brien's colt Lebron relished the step up in trip to nearly a mile and a half in testing conditions as he came out best in a three-way battle for the Follow Wexford Racecourse On Facebook Maiden at Wexford.
Joseph O'Brien was always on the pace on the 11-8 shot and though impressive Galway bumper scorer Cul Baire put in a strong challenge along with Gumption the son of Galileo pulled out the stops to win by a neck.
Lebron had previously finished second in a Leopardstown maiden and the fourth home that day, the Pat Shanahan-trained King Of The Picts won a thriller for the Pinnacle Handicap.< Circumstances shot clear in an attempt to steal the race but she was swamped late on and Ronan Whelan drove King Of The Picts (9-2) to the front close home to beat Much Acclaimed by a neck.
John McConnell's filly Sheilas Wish (9-2) had been knocking on the door of late and finally won at the 14th attempt in the Wexford Apprentice Handicap.
She was always travelling well for Colin Keane, who slipped her into the lead on the final elbow and soon had the race in the bag, winning cosily by four and a quarter lengths.< Hartside won by 11 lengths at Tramore last time and a 5lb penalty wasn't enough to stop Tommy Carmody's three-year-old (4-5 favourite), who was driven out by Ben Curtis to take the Rosslare Handicap by two lengths.
Ken Condon's 8-1 shot Mont Blanc asserted in the final furlong of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden and was well on top at the line as she beat Rigoletta by a length and a half under Shane Foley.
Declan Lavery set out to make all on Aughnacurraveel in the Gorey (QR) Race and kept enough up his sleeve to score by half a length on Thomas Cummins' 7-1 shot.
