Review wexford 17th Mar
A change of tactics saw Point Of Light (11-8) recoup some of last Saturday's losses in the New Ross Maiden Hurdle at Wexford.
Carrying the Gigginstown Stud colours worn by RSA Chase victor Weapon's Amnesty, Paul Nolan's Flat recruit had attempted to make all when long odds-on at Limerick at the weekend, only to fade out of the frame.
But Niall Madden played a waiting game this time and he hit the front at the last en route to a two-length defeat of Fearnwood Girl < Lancetto got off the mark at the second time of asking over obstacles in the Curracloe Maiden Hurdle.
The 9-2 shot had shaped with promise when fourth at Clonmel and always prominent in the hands of Kevin Coleman, he quickened well to beat Taralga by 10 lengths.
The Francis Flood-trained Miss Pepperpot (6-1) recaptured her very best form to take the Michael O'Murchadha Memorial Novice Handicap Hurdle in the hands of Mark Walsh, who followed up in the Richard Browne & Sons LTD. Hurdle on Flood's Slievecorragh
Sent off the 7 & ndash;4 favourite on the back of a Naas triumph last week, he was always travelling best in front and readily saw off the threat of his main market rival Vital Plot passing the post nine lengths ahead.
The withdrawal of likely favourite Organisedconfusion took some of the lustre away from the Martin Kent Memorial Chase, and Frontier Lady (1-2 favourite) took full advantage, repelling sole rival The Last Hurrah to cap a memorable day for her Champion Chase-winning handler Colm Murphy.
Up at Down Royal, Adrian Heskin supplemented his Cheltenham Festival victory on A New Story by steering last year's winner One Cool Cookie (3-1) to a repeat victory in the feature Guinness Chase. Hot favourite Air Force One failed to complete the course for the second race in succession.
