Review tramore 14th Aug
Ruby Walsh and Willie Mullins were the men to follow at foggy Tramore with an early double thanks to the mares Dani California and Dawn Valentino
The jockey-trainer combination struck first in the Ernst & Young Hurdle with Dani California (5-2), who made headway approaching the second-last and though tight for room on the inner, took over at the last to beat Valain by two and a half lengths.
They completed their double when Dawn Valentino pounced late to take the www.thetote.com Maiden Hurdle.< Karaking led for much of the way and kicked for home approaching the second-last, but Walsh had the move covered and was on his tail at the final flight.
Dawn Valentino (9-2) was driven into the lead on the run-in and pulled a length and a quarter clear to land the spoils.
Walsh and Mullins weren't far away from a third victory when they teamed up for the final time on the night with Tango Foxtrot in the Richard Power Private Clients Betting Handicap Hurdle, but they had to settle for minor honours.
The race was won in emphatic style by the Gordon Elliott-trained 11-2 shot Grand Opera
Raised 10lb for an easy victory at Downpatrick last weekend, the six-year-old chased long-time leader Gudnis Gracious Me into the last but was travelling much the best and despite a scrappy jump, powered away to win by two and a half lengths.< Bernabeu (8-1) bounced back to his best form to romp away with the Ceili Evening At Tramore Handicap Hurdle under Andrew McNamara.
Edward O'Grady's seven-year-old had not pulled up any trees in three outings this year, but with the blinkers back on for the first time since October 2007 he led approaching the second-last and skipped clear to win by 13 lengths.
There were four in with a chance in the closing stages of an incident-packed Karl Casey Birthday Bash Handicap Chase and it went to Charlie Swan's Prince Noora (20-1), who was prominent all the way and dug deep to win by a neck under Lenny Flynn.
