It was a good night for Andrew Slattery at Tipperary as the local trainer recorded double, starting with Lupie in the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Maiden< Rule The Waves (9-10fav) was all the rage for the first race of the evening following a promising debut over six furlongs at Leopardstown, but Aidan O'Brien's War Front colt couldn't land a blow as the more experienced winner dominated from the off.
The 8-1 shot stole a march on his rivals over a furlong out and went far enough clear to hold the fast-finishing Laharde by half a length.
Slattery was on the mark again in the Tipperary Family Day Saturday 12th July Handicap courtesy of Ucanchoose who prevailed by half a length from Ever Yours in a thrilling five-way finish.
Another short-priced favourite was turned over in the Pride Of Tipperary Festival 2014 Handicap as Prince Connoisseur scored at 9-2.< Chiclet who was sent off 11-8 favourite, had no answers when Fran Berry asked his mount the question and John Feane's gelding pulled three and a quarters lengths clear to make it two wins from two.
O'Brien enjoyed a change of luck as Granddukeoftuscany landed the Follow TipperaryRaces On Twitter Maiden for the Ballydoyle handler in emphatic fashion.
The Galileo colt had seven and a half lengths to find with the reopposing Wrap on his debut showing at Leopardstown, but clearly learnt plenty from that experience and relished being ridden more prominently.
Always at the head of affairs, he opened up in ultra-impressive fashion to pull 19 lengths clear of Gambling Girl
The TipperaryRaces.ie Handicap also produced a facile winner in the shape of Lily The Lioness, who showed stayed on best of all to put seven lengths between herself and Dancingwithangels < Juara (7-1) made the most of a tumbling handicap mark to record a two-length success from Oneeightofamile in the Pride Of Tipperary Launch Handicap.
