< Do Try Dolly came out best in a cracking duel for the spoils in the Carmel Fay Memorial Handicap Hurdle at Kilbeggan.
The 100-30 market leader was sent on three out in an attempt to supplement last month's course win.< Disputed was hot on her heels and actually managed to get his head in front, but Do Try Dolly wouldn't go quietly and rallied bravely to prevail by a short head.
Gordon Elliott and Bryan Cooper gained compensation for Disputed's narrow reverse when Akorakor justified favouritism in the Midlands National Ladies Day July 17th Novice Chase.
Sent off at 11-10, he took it up at the penultimate fence and had enough in the tank to repel stable companion Shadow Catcher
The application of a hood helped Rock On Fruity break his duck in the Martinstown Opportunity Maiden Hurdle.
The red-hot 4-7 favourite raced in third for much of the contest, but was angled between runners to make his move approaching the second-last and quickened well to see off Credulous by two and three-quarter lengths.< Sandymount Duke (4-6) was another to land the odds in the T & V Novice Hurdle.
Jessie Harrington's six-year-old has really got to grips with what is expected of him recently and made every post a winning one in the hands of Robbie Power.< Dedoctorsdaughter appeared to have established a winning advantage with 100 yards to go in the Hurley Family Handicap Hurdle, but Dunroe Boy (16-1) sprouted wings and got up by a half a length to give Thomas Coyle a winner with his first ever runner as a trainer.< Harangue didn't show much over timber at Listowel at the start of the month but a tongue tie went on for his return to the larger obstacles in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Handicap Chase and he showed the benefit by running out an impressive winner.
