Review fairyhouse 15th Jul
< Slade Power continued his march up the sprinting ranks with a battling victory in the feature Belgrave Stakes at Fairyhouse.
Eddie Lynam's three-year-old (11-4), winner of a Listed contest at Haydock last time, travelled better than anything through the race and was called upon to challenge for the lead in the final furlong by Wayne Lordan.< Arctic kept going strongly in front and Santo Padre Gordon Lord Byron and After were also on the premises in a tight finish, but Slade Power proved best and won by half a length.
The rest of the card was dominated by Aidan and Joseph O'Brien, who recorded a treble highlighted by the victory of the progressive Warwick Avenue (5-2) in the Value Packages At Fairyhouse Race.
The son of Montjeu led all the way and stuck his head out with determination to hold the favourite Blue Corner at bay by a head, with Amira's Prince a neck away in third in a thrilling finish.
The Ballydoyle handler's juvenile Parliament Square was a long odds-on flop on heavy ground at Naas in midweek but was quickly turned out again and put matters right with an easy enough victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
Second for most of the way, the Windsor Castle Stakes fifth (4-9 favourite) took a little while to overhaul leader Monakova but he did so comfortably in the end and won by four and a half lengths.< Chicago (5-2) completed the treble in the Fairyhouse Sunday Market Handicap, easing up to favourite Hay Point a furlong out and smoothly clearing away to win by two and three-quarter lengths.
The Dermot Weld-trained Encrypted Message (11-4) stepped up on two second-place runs to collar O'Brien's Unanimous well inside the final furlong and take the Family Funday At Fairyhouse Maiden by half a length under Pat Smullen.
