Cheltenham’s leading rider Rachael Blackmore was back on home soil with a winner courtesy of the Henry de Bromhead-trained Myth Buster (13/8) in the Horse & Jockey Beginners Chase at Thurles.
Gold Cup honours went the way of de Bromhead yesterday courtesy of Minella Indo. Myth Buster’s half-brother Kicking King won the blue riband back in 2005.
Of course de Bromhead also landed the Champion Hurdle and Champion Chase in a dream week, and back to the ordinary here his Myth Buster jumped the last better than Top Moon before going on to beat the even money favourite by a length and a quarter.
Blackmore is now six behind Paul Townend (90 plays 84) in the race to be champion jockey.
"He was second in this race last year and he has been campaigned in handicaps the last few times so he had plenty of experience and it was good to get that done with him there,” reported Blackmore.
