With Nevis a non-runner, Aidan O'Brien's main hope was Flying The Flag but while he headed front-running stablemate Kingston Jamaica in between the final couple of furlong markers, Chris Hayes had First Cornerstone in full flight and the 7/2 shot passed Flying The Flag for a length-and-a-half triumph.
O'Brien had better luck in the Group Three Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes as Up finished best of all.

Two of the raiding party, Judge 'N Jury and Inxile set a fierce gallop until Muredach Kelly's mare collared them over a furlong out.
She surged clear and Rory Cleary kept her up to her work to beat staying-on market leader Fire Lily by a length and three-quarters.< Karamaya (7/1) came with a late surge to make a sparkling debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
John Oxx's daughter of Invincible Spirit was some way adrift entering the final furlong, but Niall McCullagh switched her to the outside and she sprouted wings to catch Gathering Power on the line.
There was plenty of money for Joe Eile (4/1) prior to the Tipperary Crystal China International Handicap and favourite-backers never really had any concerns as he coasted past the post three-quarters of a length ahead of Kateeva < Susiescot just fended off Packsapunch in the Irish Field Grey Horse Handicap, while Jessica Marcialis took the Ladies Qualified Riders Association Fegentri World Championship Race For Lady Riders on Star Of Aragorn.
