Review curragh 11th Jun
< Penny Pepper overcame a slow start to land the feature race at the Curragh, the TRM Ballyogan Stakes.
The 16-1 chance had to be held up off the pace by Chris Hayes after the start, and had more ahead of her than behind as Alphabet stretched clear over a furlong out.< Only Mine reeled in Alphabet close home, but Kevin Prendergast's filly found plenty on the wide outside to beat them both, prevailing in a flying finish to land the Group Three by a head.
Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning were in double-winning form, culminating in Glamorous Approach s win in the TRI Equestrian Silver Stakes.
Manning was happy to have the 4-1 chance in front from the outset, and she kept up a remorseless gallop to beat Laganore by a length and a quarter.
Their first win came when Strike For Freedom struck at the first time of asking after showing a smart turn of foot to land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
The 3-1 chance picked up really well when asked in the closing stages, sweeping past Moghamarah to score by a neck.
Nicole McKenna's Rattling Jewel made it back-to-back successes at the track when holding on to win the TRM Supporting Global Champions Handicap.
The 7-2 joint-favourite was always to the fore under Wayne Lordan and held a clear lead a furlong out.< Enter The Red charged home and almost caught the winner, who was a short head in front at the line.
Adrian Keatley's Duchess Of France (8-1) got off the mark at the eighth attempt with victory in the TRM Excellence In Equine Nutrition Irish EBF Fillies Handicap under Shane Foley, while Dragon Fei (11-2) secured her third course success with an emphatic victory in the www.trm-ireland.com Handicap for Dermot McLoughlin and Billy Lee.
Willie Mullins was out of luck in France and endured further frustration after his High Haven was first past the post in the concluding TRM Invest In Calphormin Maiden, only for the stewards to demote him behind Joseph O'Brien's 10-1 chance Mr Everest ridden by the trainer's brother Donnacha.
