< Maudlin Magdalen was a popular winner of the Hibernia Steel Products Handicap, the feature event at Bellewstown on Friday evening.

Trained locally by Donal Kinsella, the five-year-old mare was sent off 11-4 to record a second course success and sat close to early leader Ruler Of France

It was the latter who looked to be getting the better of their battle up the home straight but Ian Queally got a fine tune out of his mount to get up by half a length, with the same margin back to Angel Of Joy in third.< Optimism And Hope (6-5) thwarted the late lung of Little Fisc to make all in the opening Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Foley completed a double in the Gerry Hughes Memorial Handicap courtesy of Easy Boy (4-1co-fav), who pulled two and three-quarter lengths clear of Plain Talking in taking fashion.< Pincode produced a gutsy front-running display to break his duck at the eighth attempt in the Anglo Printers Maiden.

Ronan Whealan's mount was the most experienced in the line-up and it showed as dug deep to see off the sustained challenges of Nova and runner-up Sikandar to prevail by half a length.< Cheers Buddy (10-1) stormed home down the outside to land the Golden Nugget Casino Handicap by two and a half lengths from Three Belts, while Dermot Weld's Hisaabaat (9-4) returned to
