Zelos Dream outbattled the strong-travelling Corker Hill to give Seamus O’Donnell and Billy Lee a winner in Gowran Park.
Lee took her to the front from the start, but nothing was going better than Corker Hill two furlong from home in Division 2 of the mile handicap.
Even at the one pole Zelos Dream looked a sitting duck, but when push came to shove for Corker Hill the necessary response never came. Zelos Dream to her credit forged on along the rail and came in by three parts of a length at 8/1 from the 7/2 favourite. Hoppsan was a length further back in third at 4/1 (from 13/2 in thew morning).
“She's good and tough. She runs well around here. For some reason she didn't act at the Curragh last time,” Seamus O’Donnell said.
“I told Billy if he got an easy lead to take it as she had a good draw. I thought the second was coming but she stuck her head out and battled to the line.
“It's a pity Gowran is finished now as we would have come back. There is not a whole lot else for her.”
