- Zaralabad does it again at Bellewstown
Zaralabad does it again at Bellewstown
Twice a course and distance winner previously (in August 2009 and August 2010), Zaralabad justified the confidence of those that supported him from 8/1 into 5/1 in the www.thetote.com Handicap. In defying top-weight, the Fantastic Light gelding was completing a double for his jockey, Fran Berry, earlier a winner on Fairy Wing at Bellewstown.
Zaralabad got to the front a furlong out and he only had half a length to spare in the end from the fast-finishing Paramount
Winning trainer Charlie Swan said: "He likes this place and the handicapper gave him a chance which he needed.
"He was a bit unlucky in a premier handicap at Killarney last year and he might go back there next week."
Meanwhile Fran Berry said: "That's my first winner for Noel (O'Flaherty, the winning owner). I'm trying for 15 years to ride a winner for him so I'm delighted to have done it.
"Noel had horses in training with my dad, Frank, including The Dark Flasher."
