Those who took the 1/2 available on You Must Know Me in Killarney’s opening novice chase certainly had a few concerns before he battled past Sammy Black
Andrew Lynch on the winner was content to track Sammy Black throughout, however, it looked like Sammy Black’s jockey Danny Mullins had stolen a march on his three rivals coming into the home straight.
An untidy jump the last did Sammy Black (5/2) no favours and You Must Know Me was able to get his head in front on the run-in after jumping the last. He scored by four lengths in the Alan and Ann Potts colours.
Trainer Henry de Bromhead said: “I’m starting to think he could be better going left-handed. He has disappointed in Punchestown, but he’s had great runs at Aintree and Navan.
“He got the job done eventually. I think the ground was a bit lively for him. He travelled well until Danny quickened up going down the back. He’s tough and he stayed at it.
“We’ll probably put him away now and we might come back for something like the Kerry National.” Winter Magic finished 25 lengths adrift of the runner-up in third while Rodriguez was pulled up.
You Must Know Me was sixth to Ma Filleule in the Grade 3 Topham Chase at Aintree in April.
