Yarrawonga rounded off a very successful day for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore when taking the Cavalor Equine Nutrition Maiden to complete a 38/1 treble for the pair at the Curragh.
The son of Australia was soundly beaten on all three previous starts but relished this step up to a mile and a half.
Moore sent him to the front off the home turn and the 9/2 chance kept on well inside the final furlong to hold off the challenge of 4/5 favourite Zaynudin by a length and a quarter.
O’Brien said, “He stays well and Ryan was very strong on him. He made plenty of use of him and he kept on well.
“We always thought he was nicer than he ran and he’ll probably stay further.”
The afternoon started off well for Moore and O'Brien with Concert Hall in the juvenile fillies maiden, while Order Of Australia proved their highlight when making most in the Group 2 Romanised Minstrel Stakes.
