Wolf Hall made the most of his opportunity when getting in as first reserve in the opening maiden hurdle at Limerick.

Davy Russell sent his mount up to dispute with front-runner Captains Dilemma five from home.

There were plenty lining up behind turning for home but Charles Byrnes' charge produced a great leap at the second last to assert.

The 7/1 shot kept on well when asked for an effort before the final flight and galloped on well to record a length-and-a-half victory over 66/1 shot Moby Dick

The winner got into the field after the Mouse Morris-trained Roman Cavalery, a fellow Gigginstown-owned gelding, was taken out with passport irregularities.

"He needs good ground and he jumps great. He's no world beater but we'll tip away on good ground with him," said Byrnes.

"Jumping was the main thing today and the point-to-point experience helped. We've no ambitious plans."

There was good support for Musawama and he was sent off 5/2 joint favourite (from 3/1) along with Mystic Desir

The pair had every chance entering the straight before finishing sixth and eighth respectively.
