It was all change after the last in the Tramore Amusement & Leisure Park Maiden Hurdle as Wojood (10/1) stayed on best under 7lb claimer Shane Mulcahy.
It looked like the well-fancied reserve Mighty Meggsie (11/4) had won her race when going past the 5/4 favourite Cottie at the second last flight of hurdles, with Wojood making no impression in third at that point.
However, as Mighty Meggsie began to edge left and idle in front, the Denis Hogan-trained Dansili gelding stuck to his task and led close home to score by a neck, with Cottie three quarters of a length further back in third.
Successful at Dundalk last year, the 5-year-old winner had been placed in two of his previous four starts over hurdles.
Mulcahy said after his fourth winner of the season: “To be honest the ground (yielding to soft with rain continuing to fall) wasn't in his favour at all, he hated it from the word go.
"He jumped super but with a circuit to race I actually thought I was going to be tailed off. I just kept sitting and got breathers into him where I could, I just went through the motions.
"We went a nice gallop and I knew my lad would stay galloping. After jumping the last I could see the horses in front of me were getting tired while I was just plugging away. He is very honest and galloped the whole way to the line for me."
