- Wins Now at last
Wins Now at last
In an attritional two and a half mile handicap chase at Kilbeggan, outsider Wins Now and Slippers Madden took full advantage to bounce back to form with a 16/1 victory for his father Boots Madden.
Only four horses finished from the seven that set off, with Otay Kawn and Keoghs Bar both falling and 11/8 favourite Jamsie Hall unseating Davy Condon when leading.
Wins Now was challenged by four-timer seeking Bryan Cooper on 6/1 shot Francis Du Mesnil but the winner stayed on stoutly to score by two and a half lengths in the feature race on the card.
Boots Madden explained the win: “We decided to pop out and see if he would enjoy himself and he jumped brilliantly today.
“He has been disappointing for a good while even though he has been in great form and working well. He just hasn’t been doing it at the track.
“This was a lovely pot to win [12,765 euro].”
