The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden produced a good finish with Wuqood (12/1) coming with a steady run down down the centre of the course to lead inside the final furlong and just prevail by a short head from equally promising newcomer Liffey River.
The 4/7 favourite Harvard stumbled when leaving the stalls and, having raced prominently thereafter, could find no extra in the closing stages before finishing third.
The winner holds entries in Group races on Irish Champions Weekend and is by Dubawi out of the stable’s smart racemare Tarfasha, with his half-brother being Listed winner Rakan.
Kris Weld, assistant to winning trainer Dermot Weld, said: "He’s a beautifully bred colt. His dam was second in the Oaks and won the Blandford and hopefully he will be an exciting horse for next year.
“We’ll probably give him one more run this year in a Group race. He’s still very green but I thought it was a nice performance.”
