Whelan adds another to Royal Ascot winner

Royal Ascot winning jockey Ronan Whelan was on the mark in the Down Royal Handicap at Down Royal today, winning on the Johnny Levins trained Brokopondo

Whelan won on his only ride Jennies Jewel, at this week’s Royal Ascot in the Ascot Stakes, and added another winner today as Brokopondo gained a fourth career win.

Following the win, Levins stated “Ronan went out with a plan in his head and I didn't interfere and he executed it brilliantly - I'm thrilled he has won again.

“The owner Declan Kiernan (from Viginia Co Cavan) has been a very patient man. He doesn't interfere and he leaves you to do things. He has been justly rewarded. “
