Parkside Boy (10/1) was the latest winning foal from Group 1-winning racemare Carry On Katie today, landing Dundalk's opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden for trainer John O'Donoghue and jockey Ronan Whelan.
Two of today's four juvenile runners had previous racecourse experience and while all were in contention with a furlong to race, Parkside Boy finished well to hold off Ballydoyle's green newcomer Emperor Of Rome by a half-length.
O'Donoghue, whose Pearling Path was a juvenile runner-up at last year's Royal Ascot, said "Parkside Boy is tailor-made for a flat, quick five-furlongs.
“He has done it nicely, it has teed up lovely for him. He came into us from pre-training and we wasted no time as we knew he was going to be early and this was going to be his time to do something.
"Without having a win in mind, we wanted a good performance and we are going to look at the Lily Agnes Stakes in Chester (in May)."
Parkside Boy is the 13th foal, and sixth winner, from Godolphin's Carry On Katie which won the 2003 Cheveley Park Stakes.
