Wee Tiger gained his first win at the 28th attempt at Limerick today as the Ray Hackett trained gelding landed the Limerick On Facebook (QR) Handicap Hurdle under 7lbs claiming amateur jockey Eoin O'Brien.
The son of Craigsteel had previously failed to win in 22 hurdle starts and five chase outings but Hackett later said “he finally got one and it was perseverance all the way. He enjoyed it out front and got an easy lead and jumped great. Eoin gave him a super ride and his 7lbs claim is a massive help.
“In fairness to the boys at home they have him relaxed this year and they have done a mighty job with him.
“We will mix and match it between hurdles and fences with him now as he is well handicapped over fences.”
