Wounded Warrior completed a treble on the day at Navan for local trainer Noel Meade when landing the odds in the bumper.
Meade earlier teamed up with Paul Carberry to take both the maiden hurdle with Festive Felon and the beginners chase with Ned Buntline and this time it was Paul’s sister Nina in the saddle.
The Shantou gelding won a point-to-point at Maralin last season and was sent off the 4/6 favourite here having filled third spot behind the useful Shaneshill on his debut under rules at Naas last month.
Nina sent the four-year-old to the front approaching the straight, and the four-year-old gelding was driven out to beat Killultagh Vic by two and a quarter lengths.
The pair drew a further six and a half lengths clear of Lord Valentine in third.
Meade said, “He’s a lovely horse, a great looking horse and a fabulous walker. He’s a full-brother to a horse we lost called Sword Of Destiny. He had a hell of an engine but didn’t have the athleticism that this horse has.
“He’s still a big baby and I don’t know whether he’ll go jumping or not now. We’ll talk about it over Christmas. He stays really well and loves that ground.”
