Globe-trotting Ruby Walsh signed out of Ireland, temporarily, with a Wexford winner this evening when steering the Willie Mullins trained Coquin Mans (4/6f) to win the Vinegar Hill Hurdle, en route to America and France.
Twelve-times Champion Jockey Walsh produced the French bred son of Fragrant Mix with his challenge from the second last and on the run-in the pair went clear of Amaulino for a two and three parts of a length win.
Walsh later said “the fact he won at Limerick at Christmas time we knew the soft ground was going to suit him today and he got the trip well enough and it's nice that he won.
“I don't know where he will go now. I don't know whether he'd go on better ground but we were glad to see the rain today.”
He added "I'm heading to New York in the morning to see Clondaw Warrior (owned in partnership with his wife Gillian, in the Belmont Gold Cup on Friday) and then I'll go from there to ride Shaneshill in France (in the French Champion Hurdle)."
