The J.P. McManus owned, Austin Leahy trained Wait Here belied a market drift when gaining a first success in the opening www.tramore-racecourse.com Maiden Hurdle at Tramore today, under jockey Mark Walsh.
The race was confined to horses which had run at least three times and not been placed and the son of Presenting had race conditions in his favour, having initially finished fourth on debut and at Listowel in September, had fallen at the second last when behind the leaders in fourth place.
Today Wait Here, morning favourite at 2/1, drifted on track to 4/1 but in the race won comfortably when beating Our Pocket Rocket by nine lengths.
Afterwards Leahy stated “he was a bit unlucky at Listowel where he was definitely going to be placed in what was a good bit better race and I'm pleased to get the win with him.
“The ground was different to what we anticipated, but it was grand for him and we'll go handicapping with him now anyway."
