The David Wachman trained Aspen Mountain justified strong market support to win the Kelly Foley & Co. In Association With Lloyd Fitzpatrick Rated Race at Killarney today, scoring under jockey Wayne Lordan.
The son of Canford Cliffs was backed from 5/2 generally this morning in to 13/8 favouritism and his supporters had few anxious moments as Lordan sent him clear with over a furlong to race. In the end Aspen Mountain went clear for a two and a half lengths win over Tony The Gent
Wachman wasn’t present but afterwards Lordan stated “drier ground would be a help, and we were a bit concerned about the ground. He’s been very consistent all year, and it’s nice to get his head in front.”
