Review WEXFORD 25th Jul
< Honoria sprinkled a little of the Ballydoyle gold dust on proceedings as she ran away with the Wexford Hire Maiden.
Aidan O'Brien's runners are carrying all before them and the stable had a treble at Leopardstown on Thursday night, so Honoria was always going to be a short price after her unplaced Irish Oaks run and she started the 2-5 favourite.
Johnny Murtagh went straight to the front and had his rivals in big trouble as he wound up the pace through the final half-mile before coming home an easy six lengths ahead of Rayina < Carlesimo was 4-9 favourite for the Blackstairs Claiming Race and gave his supporters one or two flutters of alarm before winning well in the end.
Noel Meade's veteran, a course and distance winner a fortnight ago, was sent into the lead a long way out by Fran Berry and had all but Buckthorn in trouble turning for home.
For a brief moment it looked as if the challenger might prove a major problem, but Carlesimo beat him off and ran on stoutly to score by two and a half lengths. It was Berry's 50th winner of the season.< Max Almighty hadn't run since being pulled up over hurdles on New Year's Day, but showed no signs of ring-rust in the Paddy McGee (Wexford) Ltd. Handicap.
Andrew Kinsella's 14-1 shot was driven into the lead three furlongs out by Shane Foley and galloped on strongly to beat Stella Matutina by four and a half lengths.
Michael Fitzgerald's Stylish Bid won the www.wexfordracecourse.ie Maiden Hurdle after Collingwood made a complete hash of the final flight.
Tommy Treacy's mount had responded well when the favourite came to tackle him approaching the last and was going best of the two when Ruby Walsh was almost catapulted out of the saddle.
Stylish Bid (8-1) was an eased-down winner, with Jupiter Ficial squeezing out Collingwood for second spot.
