Veteran mare gives young Fox his first winner
Quarryfield Lass now a twelve-year-old mare, cropped up at 20/1 at Thurles just before Christmas and the daughter of Lord Americo found the necessary again when prevailing by two and a half lengths in the Sporting Limerick Handicap Hurdle.
Again sent off a 20/1 chance, having two unplaced efforts to her name since the December victory, Quarryfield Lass battled on well to beat Man Of Principles and the favourite, Balsaflour
For amateur rider, Gerard Fox, this win will live long in the memory as it was the twenty-year-old's first on the racecourse proper. The Meath man has ridden four winners in the point-to-point fields.
Homer Scott trains Quarryfield Lass and she rewarded her Tote backers at odds of over 44/1.
