Michael Halford's stable stalwart Paddy The Celeb registered his fifth career win when gaining the day in the Cheaper Tickets Online At Fairyhouse.ie Handicap under 7Ib claimer Conor McGovern.
Now a nine-year-old the 9/1 chance got to the front inside the final furlong, having tracked the leaders, and he got the better of front-runner Waydownsouth by half a length.
"The handicapper gave him some relief, and the 7lb off was a big help. Conor was very cool on him and, for an older horse, he still has plenty of enthusiasm," remarked Halford.
"Conor kept his head and waited for the gap to appear. It's nice for the horse and for Paul McMahon (owner) who has been very loyal and rewarded for his perseverance.
"He may have a spin over hurdles next and as long as he's enjoying it he'll keep going."
