County Champions forges clear at Cork

Trainer Robert Tyner secured a double at Cork when County Champions took the concluding bumper at 7/1.
It was an impressive performance by the five-year-old daughter of Milan who raced in rear before moving into contention half a mile out. He then hit the front with a furlong ago and quickened away to win by seven lengths.
Punchestown is the next stop according to Tyner who said: “She’ll go straight to the mares bumper at Punchestown. She was bought for a song at Fairyhouse. She only cost 1,000 euro.” Champagne Rian won the race for the runner-up spot at 20/1 while The Job Is Right was half a length back in third at 6/1. He kept on well considering jockey Patrick Mullins had to ride a finish without his irons. Sunsetstorise slipped up approaching the straight when still in contention.
