Jockey Chris Timmons registered his second winner in as many days at Tramore today when steering the Shane Crawley trained Lily Yeats to win the opening Tramore Supporters Club Mares Beginners Chase at the two day Co Waterford venue.
The Willie Mullins trained Screaming Rose was heavily backed (8/1 on track in to 4/7f) to win on chase debut but in the end failed to peg back Lily Yeats from the second last fence and in the end a length separated the pair at the line.
Afterwards Crawley stated “she jumped super and that’s the key to her; over the first she was bad and after that she was lovely and jumped her way into the race.
“She won around here last year so she handles the track which is a big thing and we were quietly confident. She’ll mix it now between hurdles and fences now and this has been a lucky track for us; she could come back here again if there is a race for her.”
Timmons yesterday came in for the winning spare ride, replacing injured Conor Brassil, on Courtin Bb at the same venue.
