Ronan Whelan doubled his Gowran score when Military Hill gained the day, but only just, in the Gowran Park Claiming Race.
Whelan has been pleasing his many fans recently, including with a brace of wins for Sheila Lavery on Hillcrest Fire and Twin Star.
Here he conjured a renewed effort from the Sean Gallagher-owned and Ado McGuinness-trained Military Hill. Arlecchino's Rock edged to his left inside the final furlong and in the end he was headed on the line to lose out by a short head.
There was only one claim in the aftermath, that being a friendly one by connections of Misguided.
Meanwhile we could be seeing Military Hill again at Leopardstown on Friday evening as he has an engagement in a mile 50 to 70 handicap.
Rachael Blackmore, rider of Zero Euro trained by H.Rogers, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her mount lost its action and pulled up.
