Hurricane Twister caused a 33/1 upset to win the Follow Listowel Races On Facebook Handicap at Listowel today, overcoming uninspiring form figures of '00/0080' to win for trainer Victor Clifford and jockey Gary Philip.
The winner made all and was clear for most of the mile trip and in the end battled gamely to hold on for a half length win over 11/10 favourite Laviniad
Clifford was on lead-up duties but Phillips, who also partnered the eight year old to two all-the-way wins in 2012, later stated "that's the way he did it in 2012 and the plan today was to steal a big lead early on.
"I knew when we were four or five lengths clear turning in the others would struggle to catch me and thankfully he held on. I was glad to see the line."
