The Martin Molony Stakes takes centre stage at Limerick today where the Listed contest features seven runners and includes many of the top flat yards in the country.
Aidan O’Brien’s Ballydoyle outfit run maiden winners Fightfortheroses and Sir Erec Dermot Weld runs Jaega Jessica Harrington sends out The King while Jim Bolger is represented by smart performer and potential winner Twilight Payment
Twilight Payment, a 109-rated son of Bolger’s star juvenile Teofilo, has been running consistently well in better standard Group races on his most recent starts but was a winner at this Listed level at Down Royal in July and arguably comes here the horse to beat.
Fozzy Stack sends out Wargrave in the Follow Limerick on Twitter Maiden and the colt could prove difficult to beat, now that he reverts to maiden company having contested the Group One National Stakes on his latest start.
Wargrave had previously finished third at Listed level at Tipperary and could prove too strong for Group One-winning trainer Patrick Prendergast’s Could Be King who has himself shown useful form at Group level. Gentil J has been whacked with a 17lbs hike for winning easily at Galway last month but the Harry Rogers-trained mare might still prove competitive in the Limerick On Facebook Munster Mile Handicap.
