Trenchtown Rock recorded his second success at Wexford, as he ran out an easy winner of the second divide of the Coast Rosslare Strand Handicap Hurdle.

The Val O’Brien trained six-year-old sprang a 20/1 surprise at the venue in September, but failed to make an impact on three starts since.

Available at 16/1 in a place this morning, the son of Big Bad Bob opened on-course at 13/2, before going off an 8/1 chance under Conor Orr.

In sixth from three out, the brown gelding made good progress to lead before the next, and went clear after that flight, keeping up the gallop on the run-in, going on to prevail by five lengths. Shantelle (20/1) kept on nicely to take second under Katie O'Farrell for Dick Donohoe, while top-weight Creasted Court (14/1) was another three parts of a length back in third. Wild Desire was sent off the 5/2 favourite, but she could only manage a disappointing seventh.

O'Brien, who also owns the winner, said afterwards: "They say you should always drill where you got the oil and that's why we came back to Wexford. He does like tight, left-handed tracks.

"We will probably look at Killarney for him now, there is a meeting coming up there in May, or he could go to Tipperary.

"He might run on the flat too and mix it between the two."
