Treacy Springs a surprise

Tommy Treacy combined with trainer Harry Smyth to win the Bar One Racing Handicap Chase at Downpatrick this evening with Mr Springer (14/1).

The 11 year old gelding was hampered by a loose horse at the final fence but stayed on well on the run-in to defeat Kanesh

Afterwards Smyth revealed “I’m more delighted for Tommy than for myself! He has been riding horses for me for 20 years but hasn’t had a winner for a while so this is great.”

“Mr Springer is my only horse in training at the moment but I only ever have three horses at any one time. Mr Springer wants fast ground and will be kept on the go.”
