Stamina won the day for Gulliver's Travels as he completed a double for Aidan O'Brien and jockey Wayne Lordan at Dundalk this evening.
The Cork maiden winner went to post a well-backed 8/11 shot (13/8 this morning) in the mile-and-a-half conditions event.
Lordan bounced out in front on the Galileo gelding but Longbourn travelled up strongly to take a narrow lead passing the two pole.
That rival looked in control passing the furlong marker but the distress signals soon went out and Gulliver's Travels stuck on to regain the lead in the closing stages and record a two-length win.
Stable representative Chris Armstrong said of the winner:- “Wayne knows him well, he won on him in Cork.
“He's coming along with every run and he's a work in progress. He's a horse that stays extremely well.
“We have him entered in the premier handicap at Listowel next week, whether he gets in or not, and we'll see how he comes out of the race.
“There are plenty of options for him. There is a mile-and-a-half handicap back here or you could try him up in group company in something like the two-mile Loughbrown Stakes (Curragh 23rd October).
“He's a horse that is starting to put everything together nicely now. He saves plenty for the finish and Wayne gets a good tune out of him.
“Staying is his forte and he's a nice horse going forward for the end of the year.”
O'Brien and Lordan had also teamed up with 4/7 shot Congo River in the opener.
