Townend gets sweet tune from Huckle Buck
Huckle Buck Shoe a Kilbeggan bumper winner, got off the mark over hurdles at the sixth attempt when taking the Fred Curtis Crystal Maiden Hurdle in good style under Paul Townend.
Owned by Waterford business man, Michael Hanrahan, this son of King's Theatre made his ground travelling well, he led before the last and went on to beat Royal Luck (mistake last that made no difference in the end) by one and three parts of a length.
Winning trainer, Willie Mullins commented: "I'm surprised he won on that ground because it seems quite soft. We might put him away now because I don't think he's a winter horse. However if the ground stays nice we might continue on. He should make a nice chaser as he is a fine big horse."
