Martello Tower leads Ask Vic over the last

The Mags Mullins-trained Martello Tower appreciated the step up in trip to take the Paddy Power-sponsored Grade 3 three-mile novice hurdle at Cork.
Adrian Heskin was passed fit after missing a few rides due to a fall at Down Royal yesterday, and he needed to drive the Milan gelding right out in the closing stages.
The Barry Connell-owned gelding was never far from the pace and, after nearest rival Thekingofconnemara blundered at the penultimate flight, it was left to Ask Vic to throw down a strong challenge approaching the last.
However the 11/4 winner was always holding the 2/1 favourite on the run-in to score by three quarters of a length, with Elsie in third.
Ms Mullins said, "He's good and tough and my staff and Danny (her son) have done a super job with him and Adrian gave him a great ride.
"I think he is special but all has to go the right way and he'll stay on the novice route now. He has won over two miles and three miles so could go back to two if you want."
