Tornado proves tough in Ballinrobe opener
One Cool Tornado proved a game winner of the opening maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe.
Andrew Lynch sent his mount to the front at the second last and kept him up to his work to hold the advantage.
The 5/2 favourite kept on well from before the final flight to score by three lengths from Carrleoni
"He's still a baby and didn't know what to do when he hit the front - he was lugging a bit," said winning trainer Paul Gilligan.
"We were hoping for a strong gallop as we were just a bit afraid that the track would be too sharp. He needs a stiff track.
"I told Andrew to give him a couple of smacks and send him on. He'll have learned a lot from today.
"He might even be a better horse in a better race. We might go to Galway next week with him."
