Todd added to a course win on the Flat last year when opening his account over hurdles in the Tote Jackpot Maiden Hurdle.
The going was also testing when he landed that 1m3f handicap last May, and John Murphy’s charge took full advantage of a measure of good fortune here.
A lot of horses were in contention going to the second last where 4/5 favourite Lord Adare travelling strongly and poised to challenge, jinked and almost ran out.
That put Davy Russell’s mount on the back-foot, and meanwhile David Splaine sent Todd to the front approaching the final flight in this 2m3f event.
The 12/1 chance kept on well on the run-in to deny the staying on ‘jolly’ by three quarters of a length, with Tawseef in third.
