Tisamystery was yet another well-supported winner at Killarney this evening, as he took the Owens McCarthy Claims Specialists Handicap Chase.
Out of form since winning at Clonmel last October, the Henry De Bromhead trained nine-year-old was available at 16s last night, opening on-course at 15/2 before going off a 5/1 chance.
Settled in a close second by JJ Slevin, the son of Definite Article improved to lead after the fourth last. He was ridden after two out and kept on well from the last, going on to score by a length and a quarter.
The Liam Cusack trained Chief Of Panama finished second at 12/1 under Danny Mullins, while Rocky Court was three and a quarter lengths back in third. Neddyvaughan was sent off the 5/2 favourite and he finished a disappointing sixth for Jody McGarvey for Christy Roche.
Henry de Bromhead said afterwards: "I'm delighted to get this winner for the owner (John Byrne) who loves to have a winner in Kerry, and JJ gave him a super ride.
"He was disappointing the last day and seemed to be off a very favourable mark today. There is the 0-140 handicap at Listowel which he could go for next month."
STEWARDS REPORTS
R.M. Power, rider of Flaviana trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped deliberately.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Flaviana, trained by Mrs John Harrington, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
