Timely winner for Weld
Trainer Dermot Weld and stable jockey Pat Smullen, who each are set for a busy week at the Galway Festival, were on the mark in the Bailey’s Irish Cream Maiden at Down Royal this evening with Flic Flac who easily justified 5/6 favouritism.
Flic Flac easily accounted for Boom To Bust by three lengths and while Weld wasn’t present, Smullen did subsequently state “Flic Flac won quite well, as her rating and form entitled her to, especially when Edenshaw (ground conditions) came out. I was a bit concerned about the ground being a bit too quick but she handled it well.”
