Thornton experiences better Luck At Galway
Pat Martin’s Lucky At Last recorded his ninth career success when taking the Eventus Novice Chase at Galway today, scoring a narrow success under Andrew Thornton.
Lucky At Last capitalised from the erratic jumping of 6/4f Chicago Grey edging ahead on the run-in, to record a head win over the ‘jolly’.
Afterwards Martin stated “Lucky At Last was unfortunate at Kilbeggan the last day and is as tough as they come. He is on a reasonable mark on the Flat and may go for the Irish Cerarewitch next, provided there is a cut in the ground. He’ll stick to novice chases for the time being too.”
Thornton, who received a heavy fall from Kaitlins Joy at Bellewstown this week and was sporting a badly bruised face, did very well to take the mount on Lucky At Last, having broken his nose, requiring seven stitches, in the fall.
