After El Barra rsquo;s win in the opener at Fairyhouse, Willie Mullins doubled up in race two at Cork through The West Awaits in the O'Flynn Motors Mallow Mares Maiden Hurdle.
Brian Hayes was in the Sue Magnier silks on the 6/4 favourite, bred in the locality by Cathal Marriga, and the Clonmel bumper had the race in safe keeping when throwing in a splendid leap at the last. That took her home by five and a half lengths from Rambling Rose
"She was entitled to do that and was entitled to improve from her last run at Punchestown,” reported Hayes.
"She jumped particularly well and handled the nicer ground. She may have got tired the last day and improved an awful lot from the run. She is a great jumper and will be a very nice mare over fences.
"That's my first winner in these colours and I'd never worn them before. They are famous colours and it's nice to put them on."
