For the second race in succession the J P McManus silks were carried to success at Killarney with Thatbeatsbanagher (8/1) taking the Kelly Foley O’Connor Pyne Handicap Chase for Enda Bolger and Donie McInerney. Act In Time won the previous event on the card in the green and gold for Padraig Roche and Mark Walsh.
Some expected another win for McManus through reserve Blue Templar (11/2 into 9/2 favourite), who got into the Kelly Foley O’Connor Pyne Handicap Chase also for the Enda Bolger yard.
He again didn’t come up to his cross country form when eventually finishing fourth.
Up front Thatbeatsbanagher got the better of Mister Butler (8s into 6s) and Crimson Chief by two and a half lengths and half a length.
"He ran well here in the May meeting when finishing fourth and had a nice run over hurdles on his latest run so it worked out grand today," said Bolger.
"We'll try and find something similar again. He is very small but jumps like a bird."
