Laws Of Spin beats Romanesque

Laws Of Spin appeared to relish a step up in trip to today’s 1m7f for the Godolphin Student Initiative Handicap at Leopardstown, as the Willie Mullins trained gelding sprinted ahead in the closing stages, to score his second win in 17 days under jockey Shane Foley.
The son of Lawman had previously been successful for the first time at Ballinrobe on July 18, when upped to 1m2f, and seemed even better over today’s trip as he eventually found sixth gear in the closing stages to swoop past Romanesque and register a length and a half success.
Mullins wasn’t present but Foley later stated “obviously it was a big step up in trip and I wasn't sure if he’d get the trip but Willie told me he would; everyone knows who Willie Mullins is, so who am I to question him!
"He saw it out really well to be honest, and I think staying won it for him at the finish. He has improved a bit from Ballinrobe and he is a grand dual purpose horse in the making. He ground it out well, especially as a three-year-old against those older horses."
