The Ballydoyle bandwagon steamed into The Curragh today with a winner in the opening Barronstown Stud EBF Maiden, courtesy of the Irish bred The United States
Ridden by Joseph O'Brien, the son of Galileo tracked the leaders before improving to lead a furlong out, staying on well to see off the challenge of promising newcomer Dibayani by a head. Well backed 5/4f Mister Aviation filled the third spot.
Following The United States' win, trainer Aidan O'Brien stated “he is green and babyish and you'd have to be very happy with him there.
“He will step up into Stakes company now and he is a lovely laid-back horse. He only does what he has to do and he is a horse which will progress well.”
The United States was introduced at 33/1 with Paddy Powers for the 2013 2,000 Guineas and 40/1 with Boylesports for the same race.
